I love grapefruits! Always have and always will. There is
just something about a nice cold glass of grapefruit juice that I love. I think
mostly because it just tastes and feels more “refreshing”. Back in university,
my go to after workout drink was grapefruit juice. I’d mix in a bit of honey
and BAM! A refreshing post workout recovery drink!
Over the years I’ve refined my post workout drinks but the following drink is
one that I use for “special occasions”, mainly after an intense cardio session.
It retains the refreshing qualities of the grapefruit but has more punch to the
recovery properties. I’ve added an
orange and a lemon to the mix and all I can say is WOW! This one tastes
absolutely awesome! This drink will replenish your lost electrolytes (sodium
and potassium) lost during and exercise and includes just enough carbohydrates
to get you back on the road to recovery.
So, what will you need for this electrolyte replenishing drink?
Plus 4 to 5 ice cubes.
To make, simply squeeze the juice from the lemon, grapefruit and orange. Pour into a blender along with the coconut water, honey, sea salt and ice cubes. Blend on high for about 30 seconds until the ice cubes are crushed. Pour into a glass and enjoy.
