Losing belly fat and body weight is all about knowing your body, understanding about the transformation process and believing in yourself. The following tips to lose belly fat will help you with all three. These aren’t your normal and generalized tips about losing weight. These tips are real world examples and tidbits of knowledge that you can apply for immediate results. I’ve been through the body transformation process many times and have helped thousands of others, just like you to lose belly fat, drop body weight and to get fit. Apply as many of the following tips as you can and I am 100% positive that you will reach your goals!

Belly Fat Burning Tip #1 – Reduce your daily calorie intake between 300 and 500 below your basal metabolic rate. Your basal metabolic is the amount of calories you need to sustain your current body weight. Anything below this number and you will lose weight. Anything above it and you’ll gain weight. It’s simple, reduce your daily calorie intake to create a slight calorie deficit and you will lose weight. When it comes to losing weight, this tip to lose belly fat is probably the most important! Belly Fat Burning Tip #2 – Reduce your sodium intake to less than 2.5 grams for men and 2 grams for ladies. Excess sodium will keep belly fat on. Get your sodium under control and you will start to lose belly fat effectively and efficiently. Unless you have low blood pressure, you may have to ignore this tip to lose belly fat but otherwise, you need to get your sodium under control first if you want to drop body weight. Belly Fat Burning Tip #3 – Ditch your salt shaker. Get rid of your salt and replace with a salt substitute. Salt substitutes are usually potassium or with combination of spices (including potassium) and can be found at your local grocery store in the spice section (or health food section). This is an important belly fat weight loss tip because if you have a salt shaker filled with salt in your cup board, chances are you are going to use it. Do yourself a favor and grab a salt substitute (I personally prefer the Salt Free by Windsor). There are also salt substitute variations such as Herbamare by Vogel. I love this stuff! It uses a combination of spices plus potassium that really adds a unique flavour to my meals. You can get Herbamare at your local health food store or in the organics sections of your grocery store.

Belly Fat Burning Tip #4 – Reduce your daily sugar intake to under 25 grams per day. Like getting your sodium under control, getting your sugar under control is vital and a very important tip to lose belly fat. Excess sugar will metabolize into fat so it is vital to get your sugars stabilized and under control. An easy way to do this is to get rid of all sweets, soda pop (including diet soda), chocolate, cakes, and other sugared sweets. Dump your sugar and replace with either stevia or other sugar replacement substitutes. Have two servings of fruit per day half the size of your palm. Have one serving in the morning and another for your mid-morning snack.

Belly Fat Burning Tip #5 – Get rid of all fruit juices. Fruit juices are basically watered sugar and any excess sugar in your body will metabolize into fat. I know, we've all been told that fruit juices are healthy for us but they're not. Remember this belly fat weight loss tip, do yourself a favour and replace all your fruit juices with water.

Belly Fat Burning Tip #6 – Cut out processed starches such as white rice, white pasta, potatoes, white bread, flour and anything packaged. Processed starches are calorie dense foods with an over-abundance of carbohydrates. Any excess carbohydrates in your system will metabolize into fat. If you must have starches, try using whole grain starches and keep each serving to half the size of your palm.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #7 – Switch from milk to non-diary based milks such as unsweetened almond milk, soy or cashew milk. This is an important tip to lose belly fat because we miss something very important when it comes to processed milk. Milk contains a lot of sugar and unnecessary calories. 1 cup of 2% milk has about 120 calories and contains 13 grams of sugar!! That is a lot and too much sugar especially when you think we usually add milk to sugar laden cereals! Opt for a milk substitute such as unsweetened almond milk or cashew milk and use stevia to sweeten it up (see belly fat burning tip #5). Unsweetened cashew milk has only 30 calories and 0 grams of sugar.
Take it from someone who used to drink a crap ton of milk, you won’t miss it.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #8 – Have more leafy and fibrous vegetables than you do protein, starches and fat at each of your main meals. If you want to lose belly fat quickly and efficiently, this is a super important tip to burn belly fat. I am 100% confident that if you can follow this belly fat burning tip, you will lose weight quickly and you will regain your energy levels. Leafy vegetables include spinach, lettuce, kale, cabbage, collard greens, water cress and other related leafy greens. Fibrous vegetables include broccoli, cauliflower, beans, sparagus, beet root, bok choy, Brussel sprouts, egg-plant, celery, carrots, arugula, mushrooms, zucchini and other fibrous vegetables. Your serving size should be two times the size of your palm.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #9 – Cut out white potatoes – Trust me, white potatoes will keep belly fat on. Get them out of your belly fat diet plan as soon as possible. The sooner you cut white potatoes from your nutrition plan the sooner you will start to lose weight - Very important tip to lose belly fat.
Belly Fat Burning Tip # 10 – Drink at least half a gallon of water per day. Water will help cleanse your body and keep your muscles working properly.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #11 – Drink cold water. Drinking cold water will activate your bodies' thermal response which will turn on your metabolism. This is a pretty cool tip to lose belly fat because your body will have to work a little harder and burn up more calories to warm the water up before using it.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #12 – Have one glass of water with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice before your main meals to help control hunger. Remember, portion control is everything and once you start eating over and above your portions you’re going to stop losing belly fat (or worse, gain more). In addition, lemon juice contains plenty of anti oxidants so remember your lemon juice and water before meals!
Belly Fat Burning Tip #13 – Practice meal portion control! Without a doubt, this is the most crucial tip to lose belly fat when it comes to your nutrition. Your portion control measures for your main meals (lunch and dinner). Your protein serving size should be the size of your palm, leafy or fibrous vegetables should be twice the size of your palm, starches such as cooked pasta, rice, potatoes etc. should be have the size of your palm and fats should be the size of your thumb. Belly Fat Burning Tip #14 – Include more belly fat burning foods. Remember, you want foods that allow your body to work harder to digest and foods that raise your internal body temperature. Both of these actions will allow you to burn more belly fat and lose weight. Fibrous vegetables will keep your digestive system working as will spices such as cayenne pepper, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, and cumin. The more fibrous your food the more your digestive system will have to work. Here's a quick morning drink to have as soon as you wake up: 1 glass of water, 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper, 1/4 tsp of ginger powder and 2 tbsp of lemon juice. Mix all together with the water and drink it down! Remember this tip to burn belly fat and get into the habit of it and you will start dropping pounds fast! Belly Fat Burning Tip #15 – Keep your digestive system working! Did you know you can burn as much as 150 to 200 additional calories by letting your digestive system digest food on a regular basis? An active digestive system will burn calories all day long and keep shuttling vital nutrients to where they need to go. Eat a small, healthy meal every two to three hours to keep your digestive system working.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #16 – Don’t starve yourself! There is no need to starve your body of important nutrients. I can never understand why certain weight loss nutrition plans tend to starve our bodies. There is simply no need. A slight daily calorie deficit coupled with daily exercise is plenty. Remember this tip to lose belly fat - You want to feed your body to allow it to grow, recover and become healthier.
The only way to do this is to feed your body healthy foods which will allow it to grow. Keep your portions under control, eat every two to three hours and keep active each day and there will be no need to try and starve yourself to lose belly fat and weight.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #17 – Treat yourself! Once you reach a weight loss goal, treat yourself to something nice. You worked hard to reach your goal so reward yourself with something nice. Go and buy a new pair of jeans or that shirt you’ve been eying up. The point is, once your mind knows there is a nice reward for reaching certain goals it will help reinforce you good habits and avoid bad ones. Personally, I love this tip to lose belly fat because it gives me something to look forward to for a job well done!
Belly Fat Burning Tip # 18 - Repeat your personal mantra. We all have our reasons for doing what we do. Some of us may want to lose belly fat to feel better, while others may want to do it for health concerns. Whatever your reasons are for losing weight you need to convince your mind first. Once your mind is convinced your body will follow.Repeating a personal mantra every day helps to convince your mind. When you feel the need to binge on junk food, repeat your mantra.
When you don’t want to exercise, repeat your mantra. When you want to call it quits because you feel it’s too hard, repeat your mantra. Your mantra will be unique to you, it will be unique to your goals and why you want to lose weight. It doesn’t have to be long, just a few words. I repeat to myself, “whatever it takes because I’ll never go back”. I never, ever want to go back to feeling the way I used too and I will do whatever it takes to keep moving forward. I repeat this each day and when things get hard. Do yourself a favour and come up with your own mantra and repeat that every day and when things get hard.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #19 – Visualize yourself 3 months into the future. Before you begin your weight loss journey, remember this very important tip to lose belly fat - Imagine how you are going to look and feel in 3 months. Imagine how it’ll feel to be 40 pounds lighter. Imagine how you’re going to look when you’re lighter, trim and more shapely. You need to see your future self and once you can see your future self you’re half way there. Take the time to visualize and once you’re mind is convinced it can get there your body will follow.
Belly Fat Burning Tip # 20 – Find your true motivator. I’m not going to lie to you, losing belly fat and dropping weight isn’t easy. It takes time, effort and patience. As you improve it gets harder and harder to get more results. I wish I could tell you that it gets easier but it doesn’t – it gets more difficult with each passing phase. That’s why you need to find that one reason, that one motivator that will keep you on track and keep you moving forward. If there was one vital tip to lose belly fat, this one is it.
I remember talking to a client of mine a few years back. He was in his mid-60’s, vastly overweight with a host of health problems including high blood pressure, bad knees and bad shoulders. In my consultation call with him I asked him why he wanted to lose weight and get fit. He said he wanted to drop a few pounds to look better. I knew that wasn’t a strong enough motivator. I asked him again, why do you want to drop a few pounds and get fit? He said he wants to feel better about himself and to look better.
That’s still not good enough. I asked him again, why do you truly want to do this? He said he wanted to be able to play with his grand-children and be around for them. After a bit of a pause he said, with a quiver in his voice, he wanted his grand-children to see the man he used to be. There is it – Respect and love from his grand-children. Both (respect and love) are strong motivators. He went on to lose 65 pounds and post phone his knee replacements.
Whether it’s for respect, love, admiration, or another emotional lever, your motivator needs to be strong enough for you to change your lifestyle because that’s exactly what this is, a change in behavior and lifestyle. Take a bit of time and dig deep on why you want to lose weight, get fit and healthy. Go for a walk and really dig deep as to why you want to go on this journey. You will know once you find that reason.
Belly Fat Burning Tip # 21 – Set realistic and attainable goals. Start with small, attainable goals that you can reach. Setting a goal to lose 100 pounds in 3 months is unrealistic. You will only set yourself up for disappointment which will lead to failure and giving up. Set 30 day goals for yourself. Start with the goal of losing 10 pounds in one month. That is realistic and attainable. Once you lose the 10 pounds, set another goal of losing another 15 pounds the next month. That is attainable and realistic and best of all you will only reinforce your mental fortitude. Don’t get too far ahead of yourself and set goals that are too overwhelming. Start small and see the results. Once you see the results your mind will convince your body that you can do it. Most people overlook this important tip to lose belly fat but it is one of the more important tips. Get into the habit of setting short, medium and long term goals. See those goals in your head and visualize. Once you do this you will give your body some important direction.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #22 – Have a metabolism boosting drink as soon as you wake up. The sooner your metabolism kicks on the sooner it will burn fat. Have one glass of cold water, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, pinch of cayenne pepper, and one pinch of ginger. Belly Fat Burning Tip #23 – Perform a light body activation exercise (s) as soon as you wake up. Activating your muscle tissue first thing in the morning will burn up calories and will use body fat for fuel for any cardiovascular exercise. It doesn’t have to be anything in intense – Go for a 30 minute walk and perform some wall push ups and body weight squats. Try this morning activation routine here.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #24 – Perform both, cardiovascular and resistance exercises. Cardiovascular exercise such as walking, hiking, jogging, swimming, and biking (to name a few) will burn belly fat. Resistance type exercise such as weight training or body weight exercises will help to strengthen your muscles while burning up calories. Think of it this way – cardio burns fat and resistance draws in more calories. The result is to strengthen, tone and shape muscle while burning belly fat.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #25 – Perform resistance exercises that have the most “bang for the buck”. This means using an exercise that will provide the best results in the least amount of time. Try and use exercises that use the most amount of muscle tissue for each movement. Examples include squats, lunges, push ups, clean and press, rows, shoulder press, bench press and dead lifts. The equation is pretty simple – the more muscles you work for one given movement the more calories you are going to burn. Belly Fat Burning Tip #26 - Prioritize the belly. If you want well developed abs you will need to prioritize this area. Perform abs first thing in your exercise routine and exercise abs two to three times per week using a variety of ab exercises. Better yet, perform your ab routine first thing in the morning, as soon as you finish your wake up drink (see tip to lose belly fat #22). Here is a beginner belly fat workout routine.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #27 – Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night. Here's the thing...You don’t actually get results while you are working out. You get the results after your body recovers and rebuilds and this only happens when you’re asleep. This is a super important tip to lose belly fat! Do yourself a favour and get between 7 and 8 hours of sleep per night.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #28 – Stick to a sleep schedule and stick to it! Want to get the absolute best results and lose belly fat? Stick to a sleep schedule and keep to it. Any disruption to your sleep patterns will hinder your results and affect your nutritional habits and exercise performance. If you have trouble sleeping at night, cut out the caffiene after 12 noon and perhaps try a few melatonin tablets an hour before bed time. It is super important that you condition your body to following a sleep pattern and schedule.
Belly Fat Burning Tip # 29 – The weekends – Do you really want to know where most of your results are going to occur? It’s the weekends. For some reason, we have it in our heads that the weekends mean we can sleep in, let our nutrition slide and stop exercising. We tend to use the weekend as a reward and go out partying, sleep in, eat out and skip workouts. It’s like taking two steps forward during the week and taking 3 steps backwards during the weekend. It should be the other way around. I can't stress the importance of this tip to losing belly fat!
We should be getting up nice and early, sticking to our nutrition and really increasing our exercise intensities during the weekend. Trust me on this one folks, if you want to burn belly fat and get into shape you absolutely MUST use the weekends to further your goals and performance. It’s on the weekend that allows us prime out bodies for the following week in order to take those few steps forward instead of backwards.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #30 – Use a belly fat burning supplement that will help to metabolize fat more efficiently. Look for a compound ingredient called “catechins”. Catechins have been shown to speed up the fat burning process and are found in highest concentrations in green tea and berries (IE: raspberries). Look for a formula that has green tea (extract) and raspberry ketones in it. This combination is awesome. Belly Fat Burning Tip #31 – Try and find a belly fat supplement that will help increase your body’s internal temperature. As your body warms up it will burn up calories. This is often called a “thermal effect”. Spices such as pepper, cayenne, ginger, cumin and others that have a slight “zing” to them are perfect. You can also use stimulants such as caffeine based supplements but be careful about using too much because they can cause nervousness, jitters and irritability. If you have trouble sleeping, stay away from fat burners that contain stimulants such as caffeine. Try my belly be gone capsules! Belly Fat Burning Tip #32 – Include more fat burning foods into your nutrition plan. For fruits these can include blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, grapefruit, apples, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, kale, water cress, mushrooms, asparagus, zucchini, whole eggs, Greek yogurt, fish, coconut oil, whey protein, apple cider vinegar, whey protein, green tea, and very lean cuts of meat. This is an important tip to lose belly fat because once you start conditioning your body to expect these types of foods it will respond by burning more fat and dropping body weight. The 3 foods you MUST avoid like the plague if you want to lose weight and burn belly fat!
Belly Fat Burning Tip #33 – Trim your cuts of meat of fat and to the size of your open palm. Most times, cuts of red meat and chicken are way too large. Trim your cuts of meat of all skin and fat. Cut them to the size of your open palm, put them into Ziploc bags and store them in your fridge. I label all my freezer bags with the protein type and date - it's good practice to get into this habit (I can thank my girlfriend for this tip to lose belly fat!)
Belly Fat Burning Tip #34 – If you fall off track from your nutrition or exercise plan, try not to be too hard on yourself. Whatever you do, don’t add in negative connotations that are self-defeating such as “I’ll never be able to do this” or “I should just give up”. Repeat positive statements and repeat them over and over such as “I got this” or “let’s regroup and get back on this”. Positive statements will allow you to stay away from the dreaded self-defeat mode and keep your mind on track. Remember, if your mind is convinced your body will follow. Have faith in yourself, don't give up and your body will respond.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #35 – Choose an exercise routine that is appropriate for your age, gender and current fitness activity. Using an exercise routine that is too intense will shock your body and will have the opposite effect and will do more damage than good. Aim to perform a light cardiovascular exercise such as walking each day and a light resistance exercise two to three times per week. Joining a boot camp or cross fit program if you're vastly out of shape can be bad idea because it may put way too much strain on your central nervous system. The result is super sore muscles and feeling absolutely crappy for a week. This is a important tip to lose belly fat - choose an appropriate routine for your current situation and work your way up (see next tip).
Belly Fat Burning Tip #36 – Start small and slowly add in progressive intensity into your exercise routines. As your body adapts and begins to get stronger you can add in more exercises, sets, weight, repetitions and other elements to keep your body moving forward. Remember, this isn’t a race – slow, steady and consistent will keep you safe, keep you moving forward and allow your body the time it needs to transform.

Belly Fat Burning Tip #37 – Be consistent. Consistency is the key to losing belly fat and body weight. The more consistent you are with your meals and exercise routine the more efficient your results will become. Your body relies on a set of consistent patterns in order for it to transform. Your meals need to be consistent and at the same times during the day as well as your exercise routine.
Belly Fat Burning Tip # 38 – Be patient. It will take time for your body to change. This doesn’t happen overnight so keep consistent, keep diligent and sooner or later your body will change. Losing belly fat and transforming your body takes small steps and time. Be patient, be diligent and you will reach your goals.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #39 – Don’t get discouraged. There will be times when the weight scale doesn’t move no matter what you do. Whatever you do, don't get discouraged. It may take weeks before your body changes again so when the weight scale doesn’t move it is a sign that your body is in transition. Trust me on this tip to lose belly fat, once your body transitions back into transformation you will wake up one morning and you’ll be 5 pounds lighter. The body works in mysterious ways and it changes when it’s ready. Your job is to provide the environment for change with proper nutrition, exercise and rest.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #40 – Take a photo of yourself in your bathing suit. Nothing is more sobering than seeing a photo of yourself in a bathing suit. Place the photo somewhere that only you can see (in your briefcase, purse, desk, computer) and look at it once a day. Take a good hard look at your belly and know in your mind where you want to be in 3 months’ time.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #41 - Stick your meal plan on your fridge. Every time you go into your fridge you will see your meal plan and it will subconsciously provide cues that you stick to your meal plan. This in turn will convince your body to follow. Belly Fat Burning Tip #42 - Clean your cupboards of all junk food. Junk food out of sight is food out of mind. If you’re anything like me, it’s going to be eaten. Give all your junk food away to friends (or family) and get it out of your house! Trust me folks, if it’s there it’s only a matter of time before you eat it. I have my Father's sweet tooth so I have to be very careful with this tip to lose belly fat. If the junk food isn't there I won't eat it but if I see it laying around, I'm going to eat it.

Belly Fat Burning Tip #43 - Make peanut butter your friend! If you find yourself going hungry and your thoughts trending towards junk food, I want you to do the following. Have one glass of cold water with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and have one teaspoon of peanut butter. This will fill you up and get you over the hunger and snacking hump.

- Plan your meals. The surest way to success is to plan ahead. This is one of the more important tips to losing belly fat. Knowing
what and when you are going to eat will pave the way for ultimate belly
fat burning success! There is really no way of getting around this and
no way you can “wing” your meals because ultimately, if you don’t know
what you’re putting into your body and how much, you are setting
yourself up for failure. Get your meal plan ready and know exactly what
and when you are going to eat. Do that and you’re half way there!

Belly Fat Burning Tip #45 – Prepare your meals ahead of time. You know what I love to do on Sundays? I love to prepare my food! I grab my grocery list (from my meal plan), go grocery shopping, come home, put on some music and grab a cup of coffee. I groove out, make all my lunches for the week while listening to some great tunes knowing that what I’m doing is going to help me reach my goals. I store all my lunches in plastic containers and put them in the fridge. I also trim all my meats of fat, cut them to the size of my palm, place them in Ziploc bags and put them into the freezer. This has become my Sunday ritual and I suggest you do the same if you want to lose belly fat and drop body weight.
Belly Fat Burning Tip # 46 – The 5 second rule. If you give your mind enough time, it will convince you to not to do something that you know you have to do to reach your goals such as working out. If you give your mind enough time, it will come up with all sorts of reasons for you to not workout and chances are, you will follow suit. I call this my 5 second rule – For something that I have to do such as working out, I don’t think about it and I don’t worry about it, I just do it (Nike has it right on this one!). I suggest you do the same. Don’t think about it, just go put your gym stuff on and start your workout. Don’t give your mind enough time to talk you out of it hence, the 5 second rule! A cool little tip to lose belly fat!
Belly Fat Burning Tip #47 - Explain to friends and family what you are doing. I love my family and friends and they mean well but chances are, they are usually the first ones to say “Have that chicken wing or have that beer”. It’s usually because they don’t know what I’m trying to do. If I explain to them ahead of time that I am looking to better myself with nutrition and exercise, they know not to tempt me with chicken wings and beer. Trust me; once your family and friends knows what you’re doing, chances are they will support you on your journey.
Belly Fat Burning Tip # 48 - Your goal (s) should pull you towards it. There is no sense in doing something that is going to make you miserable. If you find yourself having to push and fight to do something, it’s not worth it and that goes for losing belly fat and weight. Your goal (s) should pull you towards in and it should make you feel good doing it. If you find yourself having to fight or push to reach your goal you need to re-evaluate what you want and why you truly want to do it.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #49 – Choose a date 3 months in the future and use it for a goal. Try setting a date that will allow you to “unveil” the new you. Circle the date on your calendar and use that as your target date to show yourself in a bikini, bathing suit, new dress, or something that will show off your hard earned work.
Belly Fat Burning Tip #50 – Limit your alcohol intake. One beer has about 150 to 200 calories. Have 3 a night and that’s an extra 400 to 700 calories you have to burn off. In addition, the one thing that makes drinking booze so dangerous to reaching your goals is the hang over. Your body is going to be dehydrated, you’re going to crave hang over foods and chances are you’re not going to be in any mood to exercise. Cut alcohol out for the time being and concentrate your focus on reaching your goals. If you must have a drink, make it a low carbohydrate and low calorie beer.
