The
standing calf raise exercise will help develop the lower part of your legs,
namely your calf muscles. It’s a pretty simple exercise to perform - Simply
stand on the balls of your feet and raise yourself up and down. You can perform the standing calf raise
exercise anywhere, at work, at home or on the street! It’s a low maintenance
exercise and highly effective for strengthening and developing your calf
muscles. If you don’t know where your calf muscles are, they are the muscles
that run behind your shin bone going from the back of your knee to your Achilles
tendon. You can also perform the standing calf raise exercise on steps or a stair
well.
If you have dumbbells you can also use those as added resistance. Simply hold
them at your sides and perform the calf raise.
How to do the standing bodyweight calf raise - Start position

Position for the standing calf raise exercise
Stand with your feet a few inches apart. Feel free to stand near a wall or chair so that you can hold onto for balance. Keep your back straight and keep your head level with your eyes looking straight ahead.
How to perform the standing calf raise exercise
While keeping your legs straight, raise yourself using the balls of your feet until your 3 to 4 inches off the ground. Pause for a second at the top portion of the movement and allow yourself to descend back to the start position.

Breathe in
as you raise yourself up and breathe out as you lower yourself back down.
Important points for the standing calf
raise exercise
· Keep your back straight and don’t look down. Looking down will throw you off balance.
· Keep both hands on your sides and if you need to, place one hand on the wall or a chair for balance.
· You can either perform the standing calf raise on the floor or on steps (or stairwell).
