This lemon lime electrolyte replenishing drink is one of my favourites as I am a big lemon lime drink
kind of guy. The taste is awesome and the ingredients are all natural as there
are no fillers and no preservatives.
The idea behind this drink is to help replenish lost electrolytes during
exercise. Depending on how hard you exercise, you will sweat out a lot important
electrolytes including sodium and potassium. It’s important to note that
decreased levels of electrolytes, sodium in particular can lead to muscle
cramps, headaches and dizziness. Not only that, we really want to make sure our
muscles are operating at their best and in order to do that we need to make
sure our electrolyte levels are topped up.
Personally, I use electrolyte replenishing drinks after my cardio and ab
sessions. The main reason is because I sweat quite a bit during my cardio
sessions. My cardio sessions can last 45 minutes to an hour and in that time I
will sweat our close to a gram of sodium. The thing is, when I am burning fat I
reduce my daily sodium intake to less than 2.5 grams per day. After sweating
out that much sodium (and potassium) my body is pretty shaky. I use this drink
to replenish lost sodium and potassium levels with just enough carbohydrates to
help kick start my day.
In addition, I need to make sure my electrolyte levels are topped up to ensure quick
recovery. Remember, the sooner you can recover from a workout the faster and
more effective your results are going to be!
So, what will you need for this electrolyte replenishing drink?

To make, simply squeeze the juice from the limes and lemon. Pour into a blender along with the coconut water, honey, sea salt and ice cubes. Blend on high for about 30 seconds until the ice cubes are crushed. Pour into a glass and enjoy.
