Low box
steps are a great low impact cardio exercise that’s easy on the joints. What I
like about low box steps (not to be confused with step ups) is that it allows
me to move my body and to get out of the “stationary” exercise mindset. Low box
steps are not an overly complicated movement to master and can be performed
anywhere (no special equipment needed). The trick to the low box step exercise is
getting into the proper “rhythm”, moving back and forth using your leg muscles.
Imagine you are taking steps within a “box” and this will help get you into a
proper rhythm.
Personally, I enjoy doing low box steps as part of a circuit set. Give low box
steps a try, I’m sure you’ll love them!

How to perform the low box step exercise
With your knees bent, take one step forward (using your left leg) and take one back. You want to take these small steps back and forth in a simultaneous fashion. Try to imagine you are inside a box.
